No camping. No pets. The park is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. seven days a week. The trails close at 4:30 p.m. See the Raven Run Nature Sanctuary website for more info.

Description

Hiking counter-clockwise the Red Trail begins a long steady descent on a wide singletrack trail through interesting hollows with historic features along the way.

At the bottom of the descent, there is a quick side trip to an overlook above the Kentucky River palisades. Catch your breath and begin the long winding return to the parking lot. When you think it's over you'll have another climb. Or two.

This is a great hike not too far from the maddening crowds of Lexington.
