Going-To-The-Sun Road is closed to motorized traffic in the fall-spring.

Description

Glacier National Park provides a free shuttle service included in the price of your day pass. This shuttle service will take you straight to the trailhead a couple miles east of Logan Pass. From Going-To-The-Sun Road, there are spectacular views of the surrounding mountain range.

When you enter the trail, dense woods will quickly engulf you. Visibility is limited from the trail but when there are breaks in the trees you can catch glimpses of mountains, some of which have views of glaciers. There are small obstacles such as roots, logs, and rocks to navigate around which give the trail an extra dimension beyond just hiking.

After a little over a mile, the trail runs into Piegan Pass Trail. Taking a right, you can follow a section of Piegan Pass Trail about 2 miles back to Going-To-The-Sun Road. Going to the left, you can connect with the majority of Piegan Pass Trail that leads to Piegan Pass. Going left will also take you towards Siyeh Pass Trail, which is a more difficult 7.5 mile trail which leads back to Going-To-The-Sun Road after crossing Siyeh Pass

Flora & Fauna

There are lots of wildflowers, fungus, trees, and small animals on this trail. I have heard this trail is also frequented by bears so bring your bear spray.
