Brought Tío Alvaro along, hiked to the highest point in Texas! Saw strange hummingbird moths, butterflies, etc. Fog, rain, and a rainbow at the end!

3000ft elevation gain. Worth it. First 2 miles inclines a lot, then flattens a bit for about a mile before hitting switch backs and inclining more.

Felt the elevation in this one! Very steady uphill to the top of the peak, and herd in the feet and knees going down. Sunny & warm at the top for lunc

Hiked up to the backcountry campsite. Set up camp then hiked to the summit to watch the sunset. Unreal 70-75 mph winds at the top.

Strenuous but not as difficult as some of the reviews suggest. Check wind forecast. Very nice hike and views.

Hard ascent initially. After another 1.5 miles we hit a stiff wind for the rest of the day. Well maintained. Summit in 3 hours.

Beautiful scenic hike as you switchback your way to the top. Careful not to miss your campsite about 3/4 of the way up if you are staying overnight!

Good hike and steady incline. Take trekking poles and knee braces if you have knee issues. Coming down is rough.

Round trip is ~ 9 miles. Can be slippery and tiring but the views are worth it! Some cliffs that you have to be careful around

Fun trail. Lots of switchbacks with fast elevation gain but the trail has a nice flatter park in the pine forest that is a nice mid trail break.

My family of 8 hiked to the summit in about 5:30 hrs. We made it down in about 4:30 hrs. We loved the experience of completing this challenge!

Sumitted highest peak in Texas! Amazing views, different micro climates, fir trees and not as difficult as expected.

Diverse weather conditions. Warm and windy at head of the trail. Hailed past the bend. Rain near the top. Cloudy and cold up the peak monument :).

4.2 miles to the campground. About another 1.5 miles to the peak. Saw two rattle snacks on the way, near the peak.
